Wow! We were very lucky teachers today here in Macon County, TN. We had the opportunity to be trained by Shari Sloane. She is a national presenter known throughout the country for her great ideas and her willingness to share, not to mention her beautiful voice. Here is a picture of my little kindergartener -to -be with her Sleepytime Word Wall. If you want to know more about it, goto Shari's website www.kidscount1234.com.
Lelan Stadum from News Channel 5 visited Fairlane on Tuesday. He had some interesting information to share with us. He was happy to answer the many tornado questions from the students. And he received a rock painted to look like Ole' Smokey, the mascot from the Vols- as a token of our appreciation.

Flat Stanley came to visit us all the way from California! He a little boy that was squished flat by a bulletin board that fell on him. Now that he's flat , he can travel all around this world to visit different places. Here are a few pictures of him and our class. Soon, he'll travel back to his hometown.
For my teacher friends out there, here are a few of my most recent bulletin boards.
The board with the cars says "Round and round the wheels go, look at all the words we know!" I have not put the "words" up yet, I will do that very soon. I am just going to use little computer labels for that.
The last board with the hats came from my good friend Kim Jordano. Click images to enlarge them.
Hi. My name is Janet Dickens. I have been a teacher for 13 years. I spent the first five years teaching 4th grade, then I moved into kindergarten. I love teaching kindergarten!
I remember a lot of things about kindergarten when I was there so many years ago. My teacher was Mrs. Patch, my best friend was Sandy, and I had a birthday party at school. We had a new leader each day, our names were written on paper dolls. We said a prayer before going to lunch everyday, and I also got my ears pierced that year!
I can only hope that my students will remember something special about being in kindergarten too.
My family:
I have a husband, Troy, and two children. You may have seen them on the first page, they are the little boy and girl standing in front of the apple tree. Hunter is 9 and Hallie is 5.
My hobbies:
When I am not working on school "stuff", I like to play with my children, create scrapbooks, and read.
